BlackBerry Rio aka Z20
Earlier this week, new details surrounding BlackBerry’s upcoming Rio smartphone spilled out to the public. Now, we’re getting a quick look at the device along with a bit of additional information courtesy of BlackBerry-focused blog N4BB.
From a design perspective, the Rio looks pretty similar to the BlackBerry Z3 that it’s reportedly set to replace. The Rio looks like it will have a longer glass panel to protect the rear camera, a bigger speaker on the back and a white variant. Otherwise, the two 5-inch smartphones look almost identical on the surface.
BlackBerry seems to have a very specific target in mind with the Rio, describing someone who needs a budget-friendly smartphone that’s still impressive.
The specifications for the BlackBerry Rio include a 5-inch HD (720x1280 pixels) display; dual-core 1.5 GHz processor coupled with 2GB of RAM; an 8-MP rear camera with Flash;
a 2-MP front camera; 16GB internal storage with expandability via microSD card (unknown capacity), and 2800mAh battery. Connectivity options are said to include Penta Band LTE + 4G Hotspot, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, DLNA, and Miracast.
